LEINES 870

The Leines 870 is the flagship of the Leines range, a leisure motorboat designed for German, Swiss, Austrian, and Italian Alpine lakes. iYacht handled the complete development of this project, from preliminary design through to CE certification.

The brief was to create a state of the art day cruiser for the lake market while preserving the design identity of the Leines brand. The challenge was to combine timeless aesthetics with modern boat building methods.

The development began with preliminary design, followed by 2D and 3D modeling and visualization, detailed engineering, and full workshop design covering hull laminate, deck laminate, and hull structure laminate. While assisting the client with CE certification, iYacht also carried out stability, buoyancy, and unsinkability assessments.

Several design decisions define the character of the Leines 870. The outboard engine is hidden beneath the stern solarium, keeping the exterior lines clean and uninterrupted. The asymmetric layout makes efficient use of the available space, making it possible to integrate a toilet, a kitchen area with sink and fridge, and a U-shaped sofa around a central table. The windshield opens, and a central telescopic bathing ladder with handles completes the deck layout. The boat was also designed to be compatible with both electric and standard outboard propulsion.
